An Analysis of Problem-solving Skills and Self-efficacy of Grade 8th Students in Statistics Learning

This research aimed to describe the mathematical problem-solving skills and self-efficacy of 8th-grade students in statistics learning. This study was categorized as descriptive research. The subjects of this study were 8th B grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Amlapura as many as 32 students in the even semester of the academic year 2021/2022. The data on problem-solving skills were collected respectively by using mathematical problem-solving tests and data on students’ self-efficacy were collected respectively by using a self-efficacy questionnaire. The data that has been collected is then analyzed descriptively. The result of this research shows that the average of students’ mathematical problem-solving skills was in the criteria of not mastering. The first indicator of students’ mathematical problem-solving skills was in good criteria, while the other three indicators were in the medium criteria. The average of students’ self-efficacy was in the medium criteria. The achievements for each indicator, namely Level, Generality, and Strength were also in the medium criteria.
