Analysis of Questions a Mathematics Textbook for 9th Grade Junior High School Students in Semester 1 of 2013 Curriculum Based on Indicators of Mathematical Connection Ability

Abstract

Mathematical connection ability is one of the process skills that must be developed in junior high school students, this study aims to describe and determine the number of questions included in the indicators of mathematical connection ability in mathematics books for 9th grade junior high school students. the 2013 curriculum semester 1 is qualitative, and is a literature study, which is to examine or analyze problems in the mathematics books of class IX junior high school students. The object of the research is the practice questions for each sub-chapter in the math book for grade IX students of SMP semester 1 2013 curriculum published by the Ministry of Education and Culture. Data collection is done by documentation method. The results of the analysis show that based on indicators, namely 1) the ability of students to recognize the relationship between mathematical subject differences, which can lead to as many as 17 questions. 2) using mathematics in other learning as many as 8 questions. 3) utilizing mathematics in daily life, up to 43 questions.
